*Note about Provenza lines, Heirloom, Old World and Pompeii from our rep:

"Part of the process that the above collections go through is called "fuming". The look is achieved through heat and chemicals and some proprietary steps. Color tones are not consistent because of many variables. Some of which are: (1.) What region of the country did the log(s) come from. French white oak is different than Russian white oak. Northern Russian white oak is different than Southern. Then there is German white oak. And so on...All of these are called "European White Oak". (2.) Moisture content is different. (3). Summer wood vs Winter wood."

Important FAQs about hardwood flooring

It is our pleasure to answer many of the questions we are most frequently asked about hardwood flooring. Providing this information is just part of the dedicated service we offer our customers in addition to outstanding products for your home. If you still have questions after reading these, feel free to contact us.

Answers to your FAQs

How are prefinished and unfinished hardwood different?
Prefinished materials are already prepared for installation at the manufacturing point, including a stain color and finish type, usually consisting of aluminum oxide. When you choose prefinished wood, you’ll have fewer stain color options but a faster installation process.

Unfinished floors must be finished onsite, in your home, including sanding, staining, and finishing. There are many color options available for staining, but the installation process is longer and features multiple steps that can take a few days.

Is hardwood acclimation essential?
The acclimation process allows your new flooring to balance with the same humidity level in your home to alleviate the possibility of buckling, warping, cracking, or splitting. The process can take one to several days, depending on your home's humidity levels and weather on installation day. Our installation technicians will be happy to discuss this part of your installation in greater detail before the process begins.

Are area rugs safe to use on hardwood floors?

Area rugs are perfectly acceptable and sometimes recommended for use on top of your wooden floors. Just be sure there’s no chance that the dye will run or seep into your wood flooring, which can cause permanent stains. These rugs are beneficial in high traffic areas where dirt, debris, and moisture can be tracked into your home.

What’s the best way to clean hardwood floors?

Cleaning hardwood requires an understanding of how specific cleaners will react to your flooring and you finish. Many commercial cleaners are not rated for use on these floor coverings, so be sure to consult the manufacturer’s recommendations. You can safely use microfiber products, a regular broom, or a vacuum without the beater bar running.
