"Part of the process that the above collections go through is called "fuming". The look is achieved through heat and chemicals and some proprietary steps. Color tones are not consistent because of many variables. Some of which are: (1.) What region of the country did the log(s) come from. French white oak is different than Russian white oak. Northern Russian white oak is different than Southern. Then there is German white oak. And so on...All of these are called "European White Oak". (2.) Moisture content is different. (3). Summer wood vs Winter wood."
